An audible reminder for your indicators

Materials required

Materials required

  • 1 buzzer with 12 Volt electronics (I used the exact model shown in the photo, but a more powerful one could be fitted if space allows).
  • Soldering iron for electronics (not essential).

Installation

I. Remove the backrest.

II. Remove the cover of the fuse and relay box.

III. Remove the turn-signal relay (the first one from the top).

IV. Using very little solder, solder the buzzer’s red wire to the upper contact and the black wire to the centre contact, as close to the relay body as possible to leave the Faston blade terminals as clear as possible. (If you cannot or prefer not to solder, simply strip about 2 cm from the ends of the buzzer wires and wrap each once around the relay’s Faston terminals in the same positions described for soldering.)

Reinsert the relay (a little more force will be needed because the wire ends now add some thickness).

V. Test the indicators: you should hear the buzzer…

VI. Refit the relay-box cover, leaving the buzzer outside (the wires will be pinched by the cover).

VII. Secure the buzzer to the top of the box or an aluminium frame member using a little silicone or, if you prefer, Velcro. This puts the buzzer as close as possible for good audibility.

VIII. Refit the backrest.
