A light inside the top case
For anyone who often uses their C1 in the evening, a small light inside the top case could be useful.
Materials required
- A small drawer light with a magnetic switch (the original 2003 article suggested a D-Mail model).
- Two 1.5 Volt AAA batteries
- 5 minutes of your time
This device’s magnetic switch turns the light on simply by opening the top case (Photo 1), and turns it off again when it is closed.
In Photo 3 you can see where to place the main unit (containing the batteries and bulb) and where to attach the small magnet that acts as the switch. Both parts are secured using the supplied double-sided tape. Before fitting them, clean the mounting surfaces with an alcohol-soaked cotton pad to remove grease and dirt and ensure a lasting bond. Please note: when the top-case lid is closed (Photo 2), the magnet must be less than 1 cm from the unit (otherwise it will not switch the light off automatically), so position the device as close as possible to the edge of the top-case opening.
